Our Nursing Team

Advance Nurse Practitioner (ANP) and Physician Associate (PA)

Fenella Rawlings (ANP), Jo Cartwright (PA) and Beth Walton (PA) are an integral part of our clinical team working to diagnose and treat patients with urgent healthcare needs. They are medically trained professionals who work alongside the GPs and will; carry out physical examinations, see patients with undifferentiated diagnoses, see patients with long-term chronic conditions, formulate differential diagnoses and management plans, perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, develop and deliver appropriate treatment and management plans, request and interpret diagnostic studies, refer where appropriate and provide health promotion and disease prevention advice for patients.

Practice Nurses
Laura Tomasso and Rebecca Canham are our practice nurses and are involved in every aspect of patient treatment and care. They provide general health advice, cervical smear tests, flu and pneumococcal immunisations, HRT checks, childhood immunisations, travel advice and NHS immunisations, injections, health promotion, contraception and family planning advice. All our nurses are involved with caring for our patients who have chronic disease.

Health Care Assistants
Elaine Bagwell and Jade Dorling can take blood, check blood pressure, perform health checks, do ECGs, spirometry tests, change dressings, remove sutures and test urine. They work under the supervision of a qualified nurse.

Staff Attached To The Practice

Community Nurses
We have a district nursing team; they are all experienced and well qualified to assess the immediate and long-term needs of patients and their families in the community. They can provide skilled nursing care and work closely with other healthcare professionals in the community to enhance the continuity of care. You can contact them by leaving a message at the surgery.

Community Midwife
Our community midwives work with the GPs to care for mothers before and after delivery. The midwives can be contacted by telephone on 01603 481222 or you can leave a message at the Practice.

Health Visitor
Our health visitor is a member of the Primary Health Care Team, working alongside the doctors, nurses and surgery staff. The aim of her work is preventative care and she offers advice to families so that they may enjoy a healthy lifestyle and support during times of difficulty and stress. She runs Child Health Care Clinics, Postnatal Groups and Parenting Groups, to name but a few. She also sees families within their own homes.

You can contact the health visiting team on 01603 594030, or you may leave a message for her at the surgery.

Patients may be referred for this service following a consultation.

Community Psychiatric Nurses
Patients may be referred for this service following a consultation.

Specialist and Hospital Care

If a GP or another member of our health care team believes that you need hospital treatment or specialist care elsewhere, they will discuss this with you and arrange the referral via the NHS eReferral system. Once the referral has been requested we will then write to you enclosing instructions on how you can book the appointment (normally over the telephone or via the internet) with the hospital or specialist.

If you would prefer to have some time to think before deciding where and when to have the treatment, you will be offered the option of calling the practice later and then we will arrange the referral for you.

If you have any questions, please raise them with the Practice Manager.
